Movies @ the Mok
Branding, Communication, Production & Signage Design
Misawa Air Base had the unfortunate circumstance of losing it's only movie theater in 2016 due to the
unsafe condition of the building. Three months later, the Misawa Air Base Community Center conceived the idea to host movies in the Mokuteki Ballroom. Individual branding and signage was created to make
Misawa Air Base residents feel like they were not missing out on the real deal movie theater they once had.

The Movies @ the Mok logo features film strip borders and popcorn, showcasing a strong movie theme. The "@" symbol is within
the piece of popcorn since it is reminiscent of a popcorn kernel. From a distance or at a small size, "Movies" and "Mok"
stand out bold so that viewers easily recognize what it is referencing. A branding guideline sheet was also created
to keep designs consistent no matter who makes it. The color scheme features red for a red carpet, yellow for popcorn,
and purple for the "royalty" and "flashiness" that comes with Hollywood.

Many signs were created to make Movies @ the Mok a successful event, giving guests the feeling that they are entering
a real movie theater. Rules, directions, menus, and more were displayed to make guests feel secure in the new, unfamiliar space.
